Advancing School Psychology Across North Dakota

The North Dakota Association of School Psychologists (NDASP) is committed to strengthening school psychology and expanding the positive impact school psychologists have on students, families, schools, and communities across North Dakota.

Our 2023–2027 Strategic Plan provides a roadmap for that work. Guided by our mission and vision, the plan focuses our efforts on strengthening professional practice, building North Dakota’s school psychology workforce, promoting fairness and inclusion, and developing a strong and sustainable professional association.

Our Mission
NDASP empowers school psychologists by advancing professional standards and effective practices to promote healthy environments for all students and to improve student learning, behavior, and mental health.

Our Vision
To Empower Every Learner to be Successful.

Our Strategic Priorities

1. Empowering School Psychologists to Help Students Thrive

When school psychologists are supported, students thrive. NDASP is committed to providing members with the professional learning, resources, advocacy, and tools they need to deliver high-quality, evidence-based services. Our work includes supporting implementation of the NASP Practice Model, expanding meaningful professional learning opportunities, and advocating for policies and professional standards that allow school psychologists to fully use their education and expertise.

2. Growing the School Psychology Workforce in North Dakota

North Dakota continues to face a shortage of school psychologists, making workforce development essential to ensuring students have timely access to academic, behavioral, and mental health supports. NDASP is working to increase awareness of school psychology as a career, strengthen recruitment and training pathways, support early-career professionals, improve retention, and build partnerships that help create a strong and sustainable workforce for North Dakota.

3. Promoting Fairness and Inclusion

Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, feel safe, and succeed in school. NDASP is committed to helping school psychologists build the knowledge and skills needed to advocate for fair, inclusive, culturally responsive, and supportive learning environments. Through professional learning, reflection, and shared practices, we are working to help ensure that all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities and experiences.

4. Strengthening Leadership and Organizational Excellence

A strong profession requires a strong professional association. NDASP is investing in future leaders, creating meaningful opportunities for members to become involved, strengthening advocacy and partnerships, and promoting transparent and responsible organizational practices. These efforts help ensure that NDASP remains a sustainable and effective voice for school psychologists and the students and schools they serve.

Moving Forward Together

These four priorities are interconnected. Supporting highly skilled school psychologists strengthens services for students. Growing and retaining the workforce helps ensure those services are available throughout North Dakota. Fair and inclusive practices help ensure students have meaningful access to support. Strong leadership and organizational practices allow NDASP to sustain and expand this work over time.

Together, these priorities move NDASP toward one shared purpose: creating healthy, supportive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

As we carry out the Strategic Plan through 2027, NDASP will continue to listen to our members, collaborate with state and community partners, evaluate our progress, and adapt our efforts to meet the changing needs of North Dakota's students, schools, and school psychologists.
